Currently host of the Sandy Rios 24/7 Podcast, (Available at SandyRios.com, AFR.net, and on podcast networks) and most recently, Director of Governmental Affairs for the American Family Association, representing AFA in D.C.
“Sandy Rios in the Morning,” the most listened to talk show on AFR Talk, aired nationwide each weekday morning for more than ten years, featuring interviews with politicians, newsmakers and international experts on a spectrum of political and moral issues.
“The Sandy Rios Show,” heard daily during drive time on Salem Radio in Chicago, received the Angel Award and seven Silver Microphone awards from TESLA. Sandy’s minute commentaries were heard weekly on Salem Radio Network and Moody Broadcasting Network.
Sandy has been interviewed on radio across the country, on formats from conservative to Christian, Shock Jock to National Public Radio. Internationally she’s been interviewed by Australia 7 Network, German, Chinese and Polish outlets, and the BBC.
Before her exclusive role as a FOX News Contributor, Sandy co-hosted Crossfire on CNN, appeared on ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, PBS, and with Bill Maher on HBO. Sandy was an opinion writer for Townhall, The Hill, Breitbart, and RealClear Politics. She was featured in Newsweek, Time Magazine, Christianity Today, and has been quoted in the NY Times, the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune and other major outlets.
As former President of Concerned Women for America, the nation’s largest public policy women’s organization with 500,000 members and 50 state chapters, Sandy oversaw the Culture and Family Institute, the CWA Magazine, the D.C. staff and hosted CWA’s daily syndicated radio show on Salem Radio.
The first Chairman of the North Korea Freedom Coalition, Sandy did investigative work in China, Vietnam, North Korea, Thailand, Cambodia, the Soviet Union, and India. She lived in Cold War Berlin, Germany for two years.
Sandy’s husband, Bruce, is a retired Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI. Her son, Jeremy received his PhD in St. Andrews, Scotland, and currently lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. He and his wife, Liesel, have given Sandy four beautiful grandchildren: Moses, Cates, Asa and Lucy.
Sandy’s daughter Sasha, severely disabled since birth, passed away in 2009. Sandy’s first solo music album was entitled, “Sasha’s Song.”
A professional musician and singer before embarking on her career in radio and television, Sandy sang the national anthem for the Superbowl Champion Chicago Bears during three of their winning years. “I’m Going Home,” Sandy’s duet with Michael English, was #4 on the CCM Charts.
